2010 Detroit Sinks Their Teeth Into A Post Season Run
Believe it or not, the Detroit Tigers are actually winning baseball games. Not only winning, but actually doing so quite well. Now this is far from a perfect season for them, but they have improved on their performance from last season. This is saying something as any improvements are appreciated when you are talking about the Detroit Tigers. This team can go from great to jeez in a matter of innings.
55 Down 107 to Go
With the halfway part of the season soon approaching the burning question for the Detroit Tigers is, will the streak continue? With the team only 3 and a half games out of first, there is little doubt that the team could have the top spot in the division before the All-Star break. That is if the team is not distracted and loses their focus. While the team is in second place in the division, there are a few things that need to be looked at. The last ten games they have had a record of 5-5 with a win streak of one. This is the sound of a team that is scratching and clawing for their spot in the division. While they do have a little breathing room as the White Sox are nine and a half back, things can always change quickly.
The Power is in the Bat
One thing that can be contributed to the success that the Tigers have had is the fact that there is a lot of power that is in the batting order of the team; this as a result means that there will be a lot resting on the current roster staying healthy. This will be crucial if the team is looking to keep their hold on the division or even advance. The batting order is perfect and any slight change may throw the team into a tailspin that they will not recover from. If things remain positive, then the team is looking to make a lot of improvements in the coming months as they look to return to the post season.
Pitcher Perfect
There are a few fans that are quick to point out that the pitching rotation is also a huge part of the success that the team has experienced in recent years. It is true that a good bull pen is a key part to any team being able to get batters struck out and save runs from being scored on them. The pitching rotation is stronger than it has been in recent years, which is a large part of the reason that the team has had the success that they have so far into the season. If this continues to be the case, there will be nothing but good things that come from it. If this is not the case, then the team will slip further down and will lose any chance.
The rest of the season will be one of two things, the best that the team has had in the last few years or another case of so much promise thrown down the drain, the jury is still out, but early indications show that this may be a good year for the team. Only time will be the true judge as to what will happen.
