Adjustable Dumbbells – The Perfect Home Gym Setup
Avid fans of weight training are singing praises about cool new weights called adjustable dumbbells. With weight plates on both ends of the gripping rod that can be easily changed, these are the perfect tools for those who seek to increase bulk or develop longer and leaner muscles. They come in either round shaped designs that are much similar to traditional weights and in square-shaped forms.
Adjustable dumbbells work in the same manner as single weight dumbbells. You can do all exercises that you used to do with the traditional weights using an adjustable set and still get similar, even better, results.
What makes them adjustable is that the weight plates can be adjusted to become heavier or lighter depending on your workout needs since one adjustable set has a variety of weights built in it. All you need to do to change the weight is to manipulate the given adjustment mechanism, usually a dial or a knob.
No matter what their shape is, these adjustables have made home fitness improve by leaps and bounds. The best way they do this is by enabling you to save on workout space. When you’re training with weights, it’s inevitable that you’ll end up with so many dumbbells. This is a reality you will have to prepare for inasmuch as keeping your muscles engaged almost always means increasing the amount of resistance you give your muscles. When you’ve left your lighter dumbbells for heavier ones, storage becomes a problem, particularly if you’re living in a cramped apartment.
This is not a problem with adjustable dumbbells. You only need to buy one set and you’ll have all the weight ranges you need to help you progress in your weight training regimen.
You don’t have to look everywhere for the weight that’s appropriate for a particular workout you do, making training with adjustable dumbbells a breeze. You don’t normally arrange your dumbbells by pound, unless you are that organized with your stuff. Usually, you simply toss your single weight dumbbells among the pile, making it challenging for the appropriate poundage difficult the next time you work out. Adjustables are cleverly designed with all the weights nested in one compact set. To get the weight you want, simply turn a knob or whatever mechanism is in place.
Because they turn out to be cheaper in the long-run, adjustables have truly revolutionized home weight training. Sit down and try to calculate how much each single weight dumbbell costs and figure out the total for all dumbbells you will buy as you increase your resistance. It’s true that you might have to shell out more for the initial purchase of an adjustable dumbbell but compared to buying one single-weight dumbbell at a time, the cost will be comparatively cheaper in the long-term.
Is there a downside to adjustable dumbbells? There seems practically none, although gripping the square-shaped adjustable set might take a little getting used to at first. But after you’ve used them for a few more reps, they’ll feel more natural.
