The Gorilla Crunch

Besides creating an entertaining image in your head, this exercise focuses on building up the abdominals, but has a secondary build up in the biceps and lats. You’ll need a chin-up bar to perform this exercise. Once you’re warmed up, you’re ready to begin.

Start by underhand gripping the bar, spreading your hands to just wider than shoulder width. Once you have a firm grip, lift up your lower legs, so your knees are bent at a 90 degree angle, but your body is pretty much hanging down. This is considered the starting position. While exhaling, pull your knees to your chest while you lift yourself up. You want to have your nose at bar level to complete the exercise, then return to the starting position while inhaling.
