The Vanderbilt University Basketball Team And Their Accomplishments Since 2003

The Vanderbilt Commodores are a good college basketball team. They have never made it to a final four and they don’t get the exposure of some of the other SEC teams, but they are incredibly exciting to watch.

Don’t believe me? Here are some of the best victories they have had in recent years.

In 2008, for a brief period, the Tennessee Volunteers were ranked as the number one team in the country. Their reign lasted a whole two days and was brought to a sudden end by Vanderbilt. On national television. Some title reign that was.

2007 vs. #1 Florida – At the time, Florida was coming off a national championship with every one of their players returned. They were expectedly ranked #1 in country, however did not stand a chance against Vanderbilt. We stormed the court after the victory.

It should be noted that Florida went on to win the national championship again. So yeah, the Commodores should essentially have been given the title that year. Kidding, kidding.

Vanderbilt was a hot ticket coming into the NCAAB Tournament in 2007. They were led behind senior Derek Byars and Shan Foster. Both players played exceptionally well and were able to beat out a great Washington State Cougars team. This was one game where neither team deserved to lose.

In 2007, Vandy was undefeated at home. In the last game of the season, they faced a very talented Mississippi State team that was determined to win. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, this was Shan Foster’s night. He managed to hit 9 three pointers, including 7 in a row the most amazing performance by a college player I’ve ever seen.

Another great game was against Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament, back in 2003. Mississippi State was heavily favored, but Dan Cage stepped up from the 3 point line when he needed to and allowed Vandy to win in double overtime.

Besides Vanderbilt basketball, the author additionally frequently shares writing regarding exterior home painting and stucco paints.
